I am not computer savvy. So why do I have a laptop that is filled with so many features and the best of the best of components. Answer: A computer Tech was provided to assist me in build process and selection. Yeah, cheap and best don't sit on the same shelf. I bought the best and paid for the quality. I'm good with that. The screen resolution is crystalline clear. Principal use of the computer currently is Flight Training. The Futaba 6.5 Real Time flight trainer has a 17.3" screen and all the components in the laptop to exactly in real time, relate pilot input matching to the selected airplanes actual flight characteristics.
I am thrilled. I have had a H-P computer before in 2001. Not one to snub reliability, that is why I chose H-P again. Not even Mac had the available components which are so perfectly fitted to my H-P.
I call my H-P "Happy" ! Might sound funny to some, but I am Southern and we name our trucks too in my family. Makes it easy to appreciate something when you give it a name.

This computer is great! It's so beautifully made, I just love the quality. It's super-fast with all the complicated, memory demanding programs I use (Chief Architect X5, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Word 2013). I now have 2 HP Computers and 4 HP Printers. HP makes such good quality products, and takes such good care of me, I don't even look anywhere else for computer stuff.

Well, I bought one DV7 last December.
The first one I bought in December had a very poor wireless signal. Ater hours with tech support, they told me to return it and order a new one. I did. The second one, the DVD tray opened on its own. After many hours with tech support they send me a new drive. Didn't solve it. I returned the second one. I wanted to give HP a third chance since I always had their lab tops for the last 8 years, I did order a third one. The thrid one didn't even start, just a black screen.
Now after 5 months, I still have my old dv7 with my windown xp on it. Runs great, but keys are breaking down and going slower.
Blame it on my bad luck, but not sure if I want to get another one. Stuck not knowing what to get.

Excellent construction, HP always makes good changes to the design of their laptop. Suttle but effective. I went full bore with this one, but what stands out the most is the SSD. Reduces heat, noise, and of course it is very fast. Keyboard is rock solid. The hinges for the screen last for years. HP makes the best laptops out there PERIOD

I am thoroughly satisfied with the customized features I requested on my laptop; it's a supercharged and powerful laptop. All features are working great, it's fast, and it's got huge RAM and storage capabilities. I will be using it at home and whenever I travel. I personally feel that a bigger screen for a laptop (23") is MUCH BETTER than any screen on an iphone or smart phone, that's why a customer like me wants a laptop. The idea that the PC is dead is false. If a laptop could be made with phone service built in, it could capture more of the smart phone market and eradicate the tablet market. I am definitely enjoying my HP super customized laptop.

I am happy to see that the cooling of this Pavilion has improved greatly over my old Pavilion laptop. The stand on the battery and two vents have kept it from overheating so far. There are some design faults. I do not appreciate having the USB ports in front. They conflict with my USB cool mat cable and my Ethernet cable making them nearly useless. The cover for the Ethernet port broke off almost at once. This would not be too bad but, the opening goes slightly under the laptop leaving the opening more subject to dust and damage. I love the no-glare screen! It is a great improvement over the reflective screen on my old Pavilion. The display is sharp and colorful. The mat finish on the keyboard is also a vast improvement over the shiny keyboard of my old laptop. The bright white light on the Power button is not good and constantly glares into my eyes. I plan to either paint it or cover it with some electrical tape. A red light would be better. Overall, this is a very good laptop and does all that I need it to do - document creation, photo editing and gaming.

Key board is not as described by sales person. Touch pad operation is not smooth. It is not comparitable to my previous HP Pavilion 7 and cost $300 more.

I cannot be happier with the dv7t-7000 I configured on line. The BluRay player is awesome and the Beats Audio is a dream to listen too. OK Really, I love this Laptop and couldn't be happier.

Custom ordered with some fairly intense audio video needs in mind. After 6 weeks of daily use it handles all tasks with ease and rarely gets even a little warm or spins up the fan motor. Give this unit some breathing and exhaust room and the cooling is more than adequate. The GeForce GT 650M Graphics card with 2GB GDDR5 works like a dream. Ditto Win 7 Pro and the hybrid hard drive. Keyboard feels very good and seems to be a durable design and the backlit keyboard option is a major plus. Plenty of audio power and top notch sound. The HP SimplePass finger swipe is handy in a work environment and functions much more reliably than similar devices I've used on notebooks. If you don't want to strain your eyes viewing small screened devices, need mobile processing power and use software which requires a mouse, here is nice solution to fill your needs.

I bought the dv7 with All the upgrades. I am very happy with it except for one issue. I am unable to connect with my home wifi network in my favorite locations in the house now when I was able to before. Thus I have felt the need to by a new wifi router. Seems like so much is first class with this PC, a buck or two more production cost could have provided better wifi reception.

This machine is ULTRA QUIET, ULTRA FAST.
I am a moderate power user, not a gamer. I manipulate data, and this machine is assume. With the hybrid drive, my machine has a virtually instant start up.

I appreciated the way the on line website allowed me to customise my laptop package according to my personal use preferences.
However, battery installation is a weakpoint and broke immediately.

I was very unhappy that my G70t lost it's display supports and hinges, and that you no longer support that fine machine...it still works wonderfully an I'm thinking about removing the display, and attaching a flat panel monitor, and using it like a desktop...BUT, I must say, this new machine is, by far, this best, fastest PC, of any style, I've ever used...I'm not nearly as upset about the old one going South on me, now...simply an OUTSTANDING machine...

As with any new product, there can be a hiccup or two. Mine occurred on a rather simple program - Windows Photo Viewer. I don't use this program much but it was a little unnerving to obtain my laptop, load some pics onto it and then try to see them w/ a simple viewer only to have the program experience "problems" which it tried to fix but then just fail to run. I use another photo viewing program now so it's really not that big of a deal but you want a brand new product to work fully when you receive it.

Finally, a laptop I will try to keep forever. I bought this with 16 gig ram, and insisted upon Windows 7. Start up is 45 seconds, even with loads of my favorite software. There are good add on programs from HP with an HP Assistant that is meaningful. I love the finger print scan to save passwords. So no one can crack that if I lose this. I like the coolsense technology to keep machine cool, etc. My main goal was I wanted to do Dragon Naturally Speaking, and this is a breeze. Everything responds so quickly, reboots are all of 1m 30 seconds. Highly recommend to anyone.

This is my fourth HP laptop and third HP Pavilion. Loved each one, and this is the best yet. It's not a lightweight, but for my work and play requirements it's the right balance -- big screen, big power, great speakers, and the ergonomics of the keyboard and touchpad are excellent. I test drove the other brands & models and there was just no comparison. HP got it right again; I like their improvements -- bigger touchpad means easier object manipulation and graphics work -- but I also like that they don't mess with what works.
