It has been almost 8 years since I had a brand new computer - back when I got one at the beginning of college. When I finally had enough money to go out and get a new computer I went directly to the HP website. I've had a Dell and I've used Macs and I've read all you can about most PCs, but the HP was the one I wanted. The buying experience was awesome - you get to customize your computer the way you want it and you get to see the price change as you select the features that fit your needs...and your budget.
The dv6z has been fantastic to use - I've had it for 2 weeks now. The screen size is perfect and the clarity is better than I ever imagined. It is very light weight and thin, easy to carry around and the battery life has been excellent. While the camera is nothing to shout to the heavens about - it is excellent for the pupose of web-chatting or skype. I also love how connectable this bad boy is. I can connect to my TV using HDMI, control my music from my iPhone, listen to music throught my headphones and play it on my speaker system at the same time, wirelessly connect to other PCs on my home network and it was so easy to set up. And of course, the Beats Audio is AMAZING (I have Beats Headphones and I suggest you get them if you buy this compuiter!) You will not be disappointed!

Review 3 for HP Pavilion dv6z-6c00 Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC
I chose the fastest AMD processor, the 750 MB 7200 RPM hard drive, 8 GB of RAM, the upgraded screen, the upgraded video card, and Norton Internet Security. The laptop is cool and quiet all of the time. I starts up very fast. It shuts down very fast. Its speed when surfing the internet, and when downloading anything is the fastest I have ever seen. The screen is readable and without distortion from any angle. I am still looking forward to using its 2 high-speed USB 3 ports. However, it can write to a class 10 SD card faster than any traditional backup option. I prefer the large 32 and 64 GB SD cards. Because of that I'll never again store my files and backups on an external hard drive, or a DVD disk. Those media take too long compared to a class 10 SD card in this machine that is desiged to maximize their speed.

Review 4 for HP Pavilion dv6z-6c00 Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC
I have enough tech background to say that this is a solid machine. the a8-3510mx is a solid chip and the dual graphics seem to be handling Guildwars, battle forge and WOW, quite nicely. I don't do heavy gaming but i suspect it will handle most things. The extended battery is very useful upgrade and I am getting almost 9 hours of continual usage when i clock down the cpu to 1.4. which is still plenty of power to play my games watch movies and surf the net. The sound is good, it lacks bass but with the four speakers my videos and games sound great. It would have been better if HP had configured the 4 speakers in a front and back config, but as it stands the PC doesn't know it has 4 speakers it thinks it has two. The Blue Ray player works great, and the standard 768 hd screen looks good. Had I the option to do it again i'd probably spring for the 1080p screen. **** dont get caught up in the beats audio thing its just a equalizer.

Great Laptop...
Date:May 11, 2012
This Dv6 is a great laptop blows every other computer I have had out of the water... but has one flaw, the build quality it terrible. Every time I type on the keyboard i can feel the computer depress, makes me feel like I'm going to break something.
I got the upgraded graphics, the 7690M, and I will say this graphics card is amazing! I can play many games that i could not before such as BF3, SWTOR, and RIFT. So in that aspect I am very happy with the computer.
Also the battery life is decent, I got the high capacity 6 cell and I can last about 5-6 hours on low power settings just browsing the internet.
Overall I would say I am happy with my purchase, I just feel that the "quality build" is not on par with many other computer brands. If you are looking to get this as a desktop replacement, then look no further, but if you want a laptop for everyday, use like using for college and what not, you many want to look in to a computer with more care put into the build quality.
Hope this helps!

Review 6 for HP Pavilion dv6z-6c00 Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC
I bought this notebook because of all the positive reviews it had and i have always bought hp products because i love there customer service and there quality. But when i got my laptop after waiting for 3 week for it to be built and shipped it arrived with a line of dead pixels on the screen. everything worked fine though just having a line across the screen was not a good thing but hp customer service is really good so they quickly rma'd it. the only bad part is that since it was a customized pc i had to return it first and after i get refunded i had to reorder it so i had to wait 3 weeks again to get my new one and it worked great. i was really happy with my purchase, the full hd display looked amazing and watching blurays was awesome. i was able to run games at med to high setting without problems with the 7690 graphics card. but then after 3 days of use i got a bsod, windows recovered from it and i was back to using it again and after another hour bsod again after the 4th bsod it started to frustrate me very much so i called hp and after running a bunch of diagnostics they said that it would be best to return it to get it exchanged but i will have to send mine in first and after they receive it they will send me my new one but it will take 2-3 weeks to be built and shipped. After hearing that i just told them no i will return it all together and just get something else. I have always bought hp products and i have never had a problem with there products but for some reason not this time. i have decided to just buy the new dv6t with ivy bridge hopefully i don't have the same problems...

I bought this laptop so I could use it for this upcoming semester, great choice. It's wicked fast and performs really smoothly, there are a few glitches here and there that I'm rather concerned about, but my techy friend has checked it out and says it's alright. Overall, highly recommended!!!!!

Performs excellently

The dv6 is an excellent laptop, though admittedly I got the higher-end specs such as the AMD graphics card, the 2.0 GHz cpu, and 8 Gb of RAM, as well as a 9-cell battery. The laptop has succeeded at everything I've put it to so far, such as leaving it on without plugging it in for about a 7 hour period, and playing a couple intensive games. Its features are nothing to scoff at either: the sound is better than I expected from a laptop, and - in my albeit limited experience - the fingerprint scanner works great. The mousepad also has the ability to be turned on and off, and while it's a neat feature, I haven't used it much.

From web browsing to Gaming it handles ever task extremely fast and smooth. This computer runs games really well and can easily run medium to high setting for most games. Great performance for the price. I recommend the AMD A8 for overall performance.

I only had this computer for 24 hours & I had to send the computer back b/c the wi-fi would not stay connected. I was excited to receive the computer after reviewing the features but unfortunately, I had to get rid of it. I can't comment on the other features b/c I didn't have the laptop long enough to use them.

I originally desired an intel i5 but am totally pleased with the performance from the amd a8 quad with the configured upgrade to the 6g memory. I am probably biased by the performance when compared to the pentium (12 years old) laptop I am now using to run the printers under xp drivers. This is my second amd product and i am being swayed by the VALUE i now received. HP is doing a FINE job putting this version together. My only demand when i started looking was for a standard blu-ray drive. This package provided all the hardware I needed!

Cannot complain, it is powerful and reliable. I have been a PC Tech for 20+ years and I feel that it was very simple to get up and going. Windows 7 seems to do well with the components that come with this unit... highly recommend the upgrade to the 7200RPM HDD it can make the difference for speed of access to your applications and game play as well. AMD Rocks!!! the new quad core with the video chip on die is pretty awesome. Even the shared level 2 and 3 is very nice.

This computer can play all my games, but not at the greatest details. Its a good computer to watch movies and do your work on. Mine came with a free blue ray player so i use it as one. There is a line that appears on the top of my screen sometimes randomly and to get rid of it I have to shut the display and reopen it and log back in. The wireless keeps disconnecting which is annoying(its the only computer in the house that does that so i blame the computer and not the wireless router). I hade a problem with the computer not downloading or installing updates and nothing I did fixed it, I restored the computer to factory setting that didn't work I then uninstalled windows and reinstalled it, I then did a full restore removing everthing and reinstalled the bios, windows 7 and all the drivers with the disks but nothing worked, so i talk to hp about it and they told me to send it back and I did i also included the other problems with it but they said they couldn't redo the problems so they didn't fix them so im still annoyed by the line and the wireless issue. also when i got it back they put dents on the computer which kind made me mad. But other then those little things this computer is wonderful but now I made a gaming rig and only use the laptop for college to play games while i sit in class pretty much.

Powerful and affordable15" HP with AMD+ATI Laptop.
Date:April 21, 2012
I am satisfy with delivery and performance of my new HP dv6z customized 15" laptop 15". Delivery come on time. Installation running smoothly. And Win7 home premium Index overall performance showing : 5.9 score. of the system: (Quad Core AMD A8-3550MX(7.0) + Radeon Graphic (5.9)). I think it is quite high and good enough for me to do development/demo/play various application up to 3D animation/games. Performance quite good. The only suggestion I have right now if at the customization there is an additional option to upgrade speedier hardisc ie. 7500 rpm up or and SSD disc.
Thank you HP for your Quality Product and Support after Sales.

Im really satisfied with this laptop, its fast and has no lag unlike my old computer. By the way i was really surprised that the onboard graphics card is really good, ran Skyrim on high detail no problem. Only problem was, since i ordered custom upgrades to it, probably they had to take it apart, and there were some part that were'nt clicked back into place due to taking it apart, but it's all good, i just pushed it back into place and now its all complete. Other than that the laptop is amazing. I do suggest it. 1.5ghz amd quad core, 6gb ram, 540gb hard drive, all for 500 bucks, that's really good.
