Well basically, the first three things that really stand out are:
- Quick Startup
The startup is so fast, it literally takes around two seconds to get to the login page, and then about five seconds to load all the startup programs, and be ready for use.
- Lots of settings
I really like how I can adjust the settings for almost all of my things! Such as my graphics card, touch pad, audio, and just everything else in general.
- Beats Audio!!
Did you see that it comes with Beats audio? That means, top-of-the-line audio, that is louder that the speakers of an iphone/itouch/ipad, and just as loud as having speakers. I love to play music, and making it extra loud to my liking. :) Beats audio, in my opinion, was a great idea to put into a laptop!
Last but not least, I really liked the performance. While I sometimes have internet connection problems, that is NOT the wireless card or the computer, but it is because of how far i am from my wireless router. I can game like none other with my Nvidia Geforce GT 650m 2gb graphics card, and Core 17.
Also, being a student, I do a lot of school on it, and was glad that Microsoft Word 2010 was only $70, with a $40 discount.

I recently received the dv6t as a birthday gift.
The difference about this gift is that I was actively involved in picking it out.
I looked and looked and looked and compared and compared and compared.
Really, I went overboard in the looking and comparison game but I knew I was
going to be living with this laptop for a good while.
I compared benchmarks for the dedicated graphics card as well as for the the processor.
I compared ssd's to hypbrid's to 7200 drives.
I compared screen size, screen resolution, backlit keys, bluray to multi-drives,
and on and on.
I looked carefully at some 15z models and determined that they are decidely underpowered
when evaluating benchmarks.
I looked on ebay, amazon, and others.
What I found is that HP had the best price.
And, they had the best machine to suit all of my needs. It is perfect in every way.
No complaints whatsoever.
While there are other features I would add, no other machine currently has them so
you can't complain about that.

I am very pleased with this laptop. I shopped for features (CPU, RAM, Hard Drive) and price, and this was the best combination I could find from a reliable company. I was very pleased when I realized it had a fingerprint scanner, which I've never used before. This is a dream, given the many passwords I have to manage. I'm happy with this laptop and recommend it to others as long as it remains available.

The performance of this laptop with the 3rd generation i7 processor is so much more then what I expected. The HP setup was simple, straight forward, and so much cleaner then I have experienced with other manufacturers. So far all of the features such as bluetooth, and WiDi have simply worked without any fuss or needing to tweak! I can now play Skyrim in Utimate quality and don't notice any slow down or stutters in the action. I have only had this laptop for a few weeks, so I can't talk about its longevity, but it does appear made to last. My wife loves the back lit keyboard...I no longer need the lights on to use it! I am definitely an HP customer!

The first day I got this laptop the HP software assistant installed a Bios update and when it restarted the BSOD appeared ! I had to spend about 45 minutes to roll back the Bios to an older bios version. Afterwards the laptop works very good. I'm not sure why the Bios update turned the laptop into the BSOD? I think HP should advise other customers against that Bios update and should not allow the HP software assistant to initiate such a lousy update!

i would say that the laptop is very good in terms of design and performance but the only thing is the issues pertaining to the condition of delivery.
when i recieved the laptop, the dvd drive was loose, there was a scratch on the lining of the mouse pad and the speaker showed automatic variation in volume.
i had the laptop bought from US and delivered to india,so cannot opt for an exchange.
i just hope the warranty of the laptop is extended to india so that i can get it repaired or exchanged as soon as possible!

For the most part I am very please with my purchase. I bought online through HP during a sale and got this laptop for a huge discount. It included a lot of upgrades, which make it a decent performance laptop. But like others have noted the case is very cheap and on the front where the speakers are, little chunks of the case have broken off and I slit my wrists when I type. Good thing is that I purchased an extended warranty and will call to have the case replaced. This is my 3rd HP laptop and I will continue to purchase HP. Although I would give a -1 to their hardware support. That was the most frustrating part of the situation. It's like talking to a brick wall when you have a problem.

I am experienced with computers. I have been an avid user of DELL for years but decided to try HP, because it's what our office uses. This was the second time I purchased the SAME product. I returned the first, because it CRASHED during the final edits of my paper. I thought perhaps it was a fluke and decided to give HP another chance. What happened? The second new computer CRASHED too! HP sent recovery discs. I had out IT professional attempt to install, but he could not get pasted the blue screen. COMPUTER DIED....RETURNED AGAIN! Great price but poor to no performance.

I received this notebook and was very sad to see that HP really used a cheap case on this model. I received it and after noticing how cheap looking the case was and how every fingerprint shows up on the cheap black plastic case, I gave this computer to a coworker and will look for a better product for myself. This makes me kind of sad because I have always bought my laptops from HP because they were stylish and really were workhorses. I am sure this new laptop has good internals but in my opinion a high end laptop should look as good as it performs. I am very dissappointed with this purchase!

we loved the fingerprint reader to avoid having to enter a password every time but the reader seems to be very temperamental and I keep having to delete the driver and reboot to get it to work. Not the best way to convince my wife that this was a good idea.

My prior laptop was a Dell Inspiron purchased September of 2006 used up until a few months ago. It has been a great purchase. I initially looked to get another Dell laptop but when I compared similar features and price. The HP was a better deal. I buy them loaded to maximize useful life and that is the case with this one. The final reason I chose this model is that I could get it with Windows 7 Professional. I did not want Windows 8. I have had it several months and it is fast with no problems. One other thing, I purchased HP’s 3 year Accidental Damage Protection w/Pickup and Return Service and LoJack. For my money it is worth it for a laptop.

In the first week of ownership computer failed and had only been turned on 3 times. BIOS failed and all you got at boot was the dreaded "BLUE SCREEN". It is now waiting for a shipping box to return it ?somewhere? but box hasn't shown up yet.
Also, from the very first time I powered it on, the power off switch didn't work so the only way to power down this 'junker' was to remove the battery and power cord - very inconvenient.
Also, this laptop got very hot from the first time it powered up and the relatively noisy fan runs constantly.
I am sorry I bought this piece of junk and and wish I had my money back. It was my first HP. I own a small company and we were considering switching from Dell's to HP - not going to happen now!!

I was very disappointed. When I pulled this out of the box and turned it on I received repeated error messages that no hard disk was found. I had to spend quite a bit of time on the phone with HP running thru different things to try until it finally came down to them telling me I needed to get a screwdriver to take the back off my brand new laptop. I was not comfortable working on my computer because I am not mechanically inclined and knowing that they sent me this computer not working makes me wonder what else is not going to work on this thing. I have not tried much yet and worry about when I do. The only upside was the guy at HP was very courteous and patient with trying to walk me thru fixing this laptop. I am also very disappointed at how slow this laptop is. I wanted a very good laptop and thought that was what I was getting but it wasn't. My old HP with the Windows XP on it was faster than this one which doesn't make sense at all.

Forums all over the Web site HP has an issue with the "left click" function on its laptops. Yet, they built my specially ordered unit with the same issue. It will be quite awhile before I buy from, or recommend, an HP product

Nice build quality - everything seems sturdy. Worked perfectly right out of the box. Boots faster than my i7 desktop with the optional 32GB SSD cache. If you're wondering whether or not to get this, I recommend that you do. Some bloatware that was expected and easily removed. Fast machine with decent discrete graphics. Windows Experience = 5.8. Runs games through STEAM very well. Optional illuminated keyboard is nice as I'm prone to 'hunt and peck'. Numeric keypad is handy as well. In 'power saver' mode that I adjusted for even more power savings I'm getting just shy of 4 hours run time on the standard battery with the display brightness turned almost all the way down (but still easily readable indoors). I would buy this notebook again, and recommend it to anyone looking for a fairly high-end model.

I am not a huge laptop fan so it was going to take ALOT to convince me that I truly received my moneys worth. Congratulations HP! This product has done just that. The sleek lightweight design combined with ALL the impressive features (that I am still learning about) has stole my heart. The HP SimplePass is the ultimate feature for those of us who have trouble with passwords but are still wanting that extra measure of security. (Not too mention the convenience of it) I would recommend this laptop to anyone from a new user to IT expert.
Thank You HP.

Overall good performance with components, features and price. Sound and screen quality average to good. It does have a separate num pad. This may confuse as to why the mouse pad is not centered on the computer as many laptops do not have a num pad. I find the fit and finish of this computer to be dissappointing. Too much plastic. I am worried the panel hinges will break before computer reaches end of life as I have another HP computer with a similar design that has since broken. No panel latch to keep screen closed. Because of the way the panel hinge opens, there are no connections in the back of the computer. This means all connections are on the left and right side, including power cord, video connections, and network cable. To me, that means too many visible wires. Had I seen it in a store before purchase, I probably would have passed it up for a different model.

Nice laptop with good features. Coupled with a wireless mouse, it is very easy to use. Only complaint is too much unwanted and unnecessary software was loaded into the machine slowing up the boot up too much for an otherwise fast laptop. Biggest problem is with Microsoft and their endless updates(shouldn't be necessary for a new made to order machine). One of the updates literally caused the computer to not recognize its CD rom drive. Also, this computer should include a recovery disc but it does not.
