I recently purchased a Officejet 6500 E709a and upon the recommendation of the salesperson at HP I also decided to order a duplexer attachment from the HP Parts Store. Upon receiving this unit the printer would not recognize that the unit was installed. After many hours working with HP technical support and the parts store I found that this printer model does not accept duplex printing even though the slot and all of the gears and mechanism is there to accept the duplexer. I then found out that this unit will only work with the wireless model. I now have the HP 6500 wireless and it works just fine now. HP advisors need to be better informed about what will work with the different models. I could have save several hours of sitting on the phone.

After many hours working with HP technical support and the parts store I found that this printer model does not accept duplex printing even though the slot and all of the gears and mechanism is there to accept the duplexer. I have an old model 960 printer that is about 10 years old and even that printer will accept a duplex printing attachment. In fact this is about the only HP printer that I have ever used that will print a ream of paper without having to change ink cartidges and the only one that I would buy again.

Duplexer for Photosmart 2710

I owned the 2710 for several years and it performed better than any other HP printer I've owned. The duplexer attachment was a must buy since it saves on paper, and I never once had an issue with it.
Upon initial receipt of the unit I plugged it into the back of the printer and set my default print preferences to 2-sided/duplex. That was it - really! Never had a jam, no alignment issues, worked quickly (though please note it will stop after the first page to allow the ink to dry, then will process the back page).
If you own this printer, I highly recommend you purchase the duplex attachment. Well worth the money.

Wish I had read these reviews before I bought this. Packaging is wrong. Plus, they misspelled Hewlett-Packard Development Company on the back of the User Guide. That's embarrassing.

I bought the Q3032A#A2L which is basically the same as this but also has a rear feed (e.g., for 4x6 photo paper) for my Photosmart 2710. It has worked flawlessly for several years. The only thing that surprised me (although it shouldn't have) is that after printing the first side of a sheet of paper it pauses for the ink to dry before printing the second side.
