The HP x4000 Wireless Mouse with Lasor Sensor is an excellent wireless mouse. It's so easy to use and the distance you can place the mouse from the laptop is incredible. I recently purchased my wife an HP Pavilion Sleekbook and the HP x4000 Wireless Mouse with Lasor Sensor was listed as a suggested accessory. Both my wife and I love the feel of the mouse and how easy it is to use.

I needed a new mouse, and chose this one, although I was hoping to find one with a horizontal scroll feature (for too-wide pages). I was delightedly surprised to discover it has that! If you press the scroll wheel once, you can fly around the page by moving the mouse - right, left, up or down without scrolling. Press any key to disengage.
The other features: it rolls well, is sensitive, and the keys are easy to press. It's comfortable in the hand, for me. I like the ultra-small transmitter, which would work for up to five similar devices.
(Also unmentioned in the specs is that there's a place to store the receiver inside the mouse, between the batteries, so if you travel, you won't lose it.)
And I also love it because it's RED - metallic red.

I like the feel of this mouse compared to other devices I have used (i.e. different types of Microsoft mouse devices). The shape and contour feels much more natural compared to other devices. The finger surface area is more ergonometric minimizing wrist movement. I also like the flip top surface for storage of the wireless USB interface. No more worries about losing the wifi connector during transport.

It took contact with 3 different service reps to understand my simple mouse needs-wireless, compatible with HP desktop I got last yr, and was a full size mouse. But finally I got understood and the mouse was installed easily within 30 seconds...Now that is great. I just wish the sales reps were as good as the products.

The ENVY computer only has two USB ports. The laser sensor on a USB port ties up the port can I use the MIDI port???? I have no idea how to use this port. I use the USB ports fdor my external read write CD's and for my USB memory stick.

The mouse has a great look and feel but all that is negated by the fact that it simple does not work. The on and off selector switch appears to be misaligned and will not allow the unit to be turned on. Unfortunately, I discovered after throwing the package away. Good thing Office Depot was on my way to school so I could swing in and pick up another mouse to use.
