While the printer works good when working, the printer will not print, even in black when one of the 3 color ink cartridges need to be replaced. Further, although I have purchased 8 other HP multi function printers, I have never owned a printer like this one which requires that all 3 color cartridges need to be replaced at the same time. I have printed less than 1000 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 paper, most being black and white word documents, but have had to replace the 3 color cartridges, 2 times ( the original "Setup" cartridges have only enough toner to setup the machine and print a few pages) and the last set is now empty and I can't even print in black and white either.

Ok, first off, after perusing along these reviews I know this review page MUST be filtered and edited by HP. The HP 6700 printer is grossly inferior, and I'll tell you why -
Your forced to replaced the color cartridges, even though you only print in black and white. The color cartridges will dry out even though you dont use them just from the printers internal maintenance. When that happens, the driver will not allow any print at all (even if you just have black or grayscale selected as default). The driver will not allow ANY black ink printing if a COLOR cartridge is empty?!?!. I called HP tech support (who was very polite and knowledgeable) and they confirmed that is the way the 6700 operates. So even if you never use color, your forced to replace those cartridges or the printer will basically lock you out from any printing at all. This is a waste of money, and I demand a refund for this machine.

The last HP printer I had only lasted 14 months with minimal usage. So I went ahead and upgraded with the HP 6700 to replace the broken one and now wish I had gone with a different brand. I constantly have to unplug the darn thing to get it to come back on from its so called ECO status which is ridiculous. With the other mounting problems I would imagine this will go in the closet until I can sell it to someone else

at first this printer was easy to set up and worked just great, then after scanning a photo, it would no longer print. Kept getting this message, printer not found. I called for help and the tech did try but after over an hour I gave up and have ordered a cable to see if that will correct whatever problem is causing my printer to not work. I do not recommend this printer to anyone.

Some of the kids toys are put together better than this product. If HP has to outsource their products find a country that takes more pride in their products. I really was surprised to find
A product this poorly constructed with the HP brand. This machine was to be used mainly for faxing and scanning but I will start looking for another machine and donate this one
as I have a laser printer for everything else and will make due with the fax machine I have.

HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Wireless Color Photo Printer with Scanner, Copier and Fax
Purchased this product a week ago. Install was simple and easy and worked wireless and USB just fine. Scan worked very well--quite fast either wireless or USB...HOWEVER...
A day or so later the communication between print and computer through new HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Wireless Color Photo Printer with Scanner, Copier and Fax network would stop and require computer reboot to re-enable. Obviously this was unacceptable so I called HP to get resolved.
To recap, the printer works, the software is a problem.

Sorry, this one has to go back to Costco. It will not copy a two sided original to a two sided copy like I thought it would. Customer service said the 8600 would do it. We'll see. Drat.

I replaced our workhorse HP 1200 because it wasn't fully Windows 7 compatible. Big mistake. This printer is used solely for home and leisure use and no matter how thrifty I am to conserve, it's an ink hog. It also needs to be reset every week or so due to the Scanner Failure message, and I'm not satisfied with the "solution" provided on the HP support site. I've used a lot of HP printers in the workplace and had high expectatons. However, this is by far the most disappointing model. Next time, I'll consider other brand options.

Printer has not worked properly since I purchased it. Copier is good, scanner- good, e-print-good,fax I do not use. Printer stops every time I use the duplicator! Single sided page seemed to be okay at first, now it even stops when printing and says to contact HP is problem persist. Has plenty of ink and paper, it really gives no indication of why it stopped.

Duplexing cuts off the top & bottom each page. It does not duplex legal sizes. The colors seem to be faded and are not bright. Uses ink very rapidly. Just doesn't live up to the advertised features

Compared with the OfficeJet G85, this sounds like a broken engine, and the orientation for a side table is awckward: too much space sideways, which is the one least affordble.
To print an envelope, one has to remove the whole stack of regular paper in the tray; not like in the G85.
And the following day you had a special sale for $10 less.
If I have the opportunity, I would upgrade, to see some improvements, hopefully.
Next time I'll think twice before buying your HP products

Setting up the HP Officejet 6700 Premium was much more complexing than expected and I have problems in utilizing all the features of that the printer offers due to compatablitiy with my computer system. Whereas I have a smart TV and smartphone, each allowing for utilization of application software features; and I have used computers since the 1960's (per militiary duties, CPA firm staff member and corporate management employment (CFO) now retired), I was looking forward to utilizing the smart features of this printer. Unfortuantely it was not compatible with my computer system to utilize fully the wireless features available of the printer. Though I have years of experience with computers and vast knowledge and experience with complex material (including IRS tax code and corproate contract matters), the setup and learning to utilize the features available, as I have stated, was very complex. This review has been requested from HP after I have had the printer only a few weeks. Perhaps I will resolve the pending utilization matters after more experience and further knowledge of the printer.

Features and price are great. Performance ok. The rest not so good. Randomly looses wireless connection (sitting right next to the router). Randomly looses the ability to scan, fax or copy and requires a reboot. HP says to update firmware for these problems, but that did not work. Uses color ink, even when you have it set to print black only and them locks you out of printing if one of the color cartridges runs out. Very clever way of selling ink. Right now it's stuck in a maintenance loop.

I purchased this printer for use at college with a new laptop. It has a great feature set along with good quality scanning and printing. I connected the printer to the USB ports on the PC (it only has USB 3.0 ports). Printing repeatedly hung and crashed the PC. Research found an HP support person explaining that these printers do not work with USB 3.0 and recommended users use the printer's wireless feature. This workaround would be fine for my home network, but it's not good for college. Since student printers cannot be connected to the university network and the printer's wireless has to have access to a router, I had to purchase a router for the printer and PC to connect to. This works with no hangs or crashes.

I was very disappointed with the set-up process. I had to hire a professional to get it working for me. He said that anyone would have had a problem if they didn't have some computer expertise. I would not buy this printer again. It is a shame because it does has some good features.

Bought this printer on the advice of our local office supply. When it works the quality is great, but the key phrase is "when it works". Printer is constantly going offline and the only way to get it up and running again is to re-install it. A nightmare when you own a small business and just need to get your work done and printed out. I've seen other blogs where people have the same problem and HP has no answer. My advice is to stick with Epson...I had the same printer for over 5 years and never had a problem, going back to them.

overall I am happy with my purchase. The biggest downfall is that it seems like it runs self checks everytime I use it, and it's noisy and annoying when it does this. Seems like the self checks go on for 5-7 minutes.

This printer works, but it is slow to get going and big and bulky. It also needs to be reminded of the wireless code after every "rest".

Despite HP's assurance that hooking up my printer with my WIFI system and computer would be a breeze, it certainly was not. It took over two hours with techs to get to work. I don't know what all the techs did except to download a new driver, but everything was far beyond my technical expertise. Subsequent printings have been only mediocre in quality with disappointing sharpness and washed out color.
