I like the mat as a stand for my new HP laptop. It does help keep the laptop cooler and the angle is good, making typing much easier. I cannot, however plug in the fan because of HP's desogn of placing the USB ports in front. To plug in the the stand, the cable is in the way of my mouse on the right side and conflicts with my modem cable on the left side. So, as a stand it is great but as a fan it is just not usable for me.

This product is great! Very satisfied with the cooling mat; it keeps my laptop cool even after running for a while.. would definitely suggest this to anyone who owns a laptop! The dual fans are not noisy at all. Overall, very impressed

There were no directions as to which was the top and which was the bottom of the stand. After trying both ways, I used the one that worked the best with the keyboard.

I am disabled and most of the time i have to stay in bed and this product has been wonderful for me. It keeps my laptop cool and my lap. I'm so grateful for this product. Because now i can be on my laptop for hours at a time instead of just an hour at a time.. Love it! it's well worth the money.

The product stits comfortably on your lap & is small enough to do it's work & not be cumbersome. The fans kick on when needed & they are silent., well almost silent. I was impressed by this feature as the amount of sound it generates is somewhat comforting.

This is the second cooling product I have bought. I like this one much better, it is light weight, soft sided and does not scratch my oak desk.

Excellent product. I use it on both my older HP Pavillion and HP Envy. It really cools down the Pavillion which runs hot. Works great on my Envy also

The product works great. It does keep your lap cool. The two large fans run quietly. But for the price it seems a little cheap. Granted, it's just a piece of plastic covered with neoprene but it feels just...cheap. The only real problem I foresee is the USB cable. The wire guage is too small and it runs out of the back of the unit. IMO its a bad design and cannot withstand much if any abuse before it no longer functions. A better design would have been simply not to run it out of the back at all. Not sure I would buy this again. Maybe for $20 but not $34+.

I purchased this cooling stand with dual fans to keep my HP 17inch Pavillion Notebook cooler when streaming a long video session; while I do like that the fans are quiet, the low volume of the fans is offset by the lack of cooling airflow put out by them. The largest drawback to this product is that my extended battery does not allow for a proper fit on the stand and when placed evenly on the base, the battery covers up most of the cooling fan surface...I do not suggest that this product be purchased by extended battery owners.

The chill mat cools my laptop just great. The laptop stays securely in place and the dual fans are so quiet that you don't even know that they are on.

The two fans keep the laptop cooler and it runs off the power of the computer via USB cable.
It also serves as a sort of lap desk as needed in a chair, etc. Not sold as such, but a neat secondary use. Makes the typing angle on the laptop much better also. Fans are very quite.

I figured I would give this a try and send it back if not happy. I love it! It works even better than I had hoped it might, keeping my laptop and my lap completely cool. I'm also amazed at how quiet it is. I can barely hear it running even when holding it up near my head. It does have a very slight vibration to it, but it doesn't transfer to the laptop and is the only flaw I can find to point out. I highly recommend this product.

I bought the Targus Chill Mat Cooling Stand on impulse without checking it out first. I had just spent days checking and reviewing the new laptop I needed and I got lazy; I thought if HP is suggesting it, it should be good. It is ok. The one HP suggested does not really fit the HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 Quad Edition laptop. The feet don’t lineup with the stops. I was able to add sticky back bumpers to the bottom of the laptop to stop it sliding off the stand. The power connecter sticks out a bit far for my liking. Fan is very quiet and seems to work well. I’ve only had it for a couple of week… we’ll see how long it lasts.

Does what is promises: draws power from a USB port to power silent fans that cool your laptop and avoid heat buildup in your lap. One drawback affects mouse users, but not touch-pad-only users: the surface area is too small to accommodate a mouse. I solved the problem by inserting a rigid board between the two decks; it slides out to give me a mouse pad when I need it.
